Bud Rager

Bud Rager holds an Associate degree in Music from Jefferson College. He has received additional training in both classical and jazz percussion at Webster University and UMSL.

Bud is the drummer for the Melissa Neels Blues Band, and has been a part of several other great St. Louis bands including The X Band, Smokestack Lightning, Ashtray Lizard, and many more. Bud is a member of the Percussive Arts Society, and has played in the orchestra pits for many local community theater production companies. Bud has played for several stage productions at Washington University including Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The King and I, Guys and Dolls, and many more.

Bud is highlighted in the Vic Firth Educators Roster and enjoys teaching a variety of styles of music including Jazz, Rock, Funk, R&B, and pop. He has been teaching for over 20 years, and has been at Tower Music since 1999.Bud also keeps up with what the local school programs are working on so he can provide supplemental lessons for students in a local school band program, helping them learn and understand rudiments, stick control, and note reading.

As a teacher, Bud prides himself on giving each and every student the fundamental tools they need to make all of their musical dreams and goals a reality. The desire and discipline to work hard and practice often is something that Bud strives to instill in every student. Bud's aim is to work with each student to find their own style and "voice" and to help them become better musicians and achieve their goals.
